The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 6-1 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal on Tuesday night to advance to the second round. Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom each scored two times and Jimmy Howard made 32 saves in the win.
Vernon Fiddler scored the only goal for the Coyotes with 11:37 left in the second period, making the score 2-1. However Lidstrom scored on the power play at 13:52 to take a 3-1 Red Wings lead, and they never looked back.
Detroit will now face off against the top-seeded San Jose Sharks in the next round.
