Apparently there is an international rule, made by the International Ice Hockey Federation, that states that all player born after Dec. 31, 1974 absolutely must wear a visor.
This means that everyone on the Team Canada Olympic team, will be sporting the fashionable headgear – all but one. Chris Pronger was born before the said date, and doesn’t actually have to wear it.
Some of the guys aren’t quite happy about it. Namely, Joe Thornton expressed being a little bit uncomfortable with it. He explains, “It’s kind of different. I like being out there and being free. It kind of gets fogged up once and awhile, so it’s a little uncomfortable, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
While some wussies might be complaining about it, Chicago Blackhawks player, Brent Seabrook says he’s fine with it.
When asked if it was uncomfortable for him, he said, “You know, I thought it would be, but I played the last two games in Chicago with it on and didn’t feel a difference. I felt good and feel like I can see everything.”
Well, I think it’s a good idea. I get that it’s annoying having to clean the visor every now and then, but it’s better than getting a puck to the eye, right?
