Ryan Curry blasted a two-out, three-run triple in a four-run eighth inning leading the Jacksonville Suns (55-41, 15-11) to a 5-4 win over the Birmingham Barons (33-63, 9-17) in front of 3,438 Tuesday night at Regions Park.

The Suns finished 5-2 on the 7-game road trip to Mobile and Birmingham, while improving to 16-3 against the division rival Birmingham Barons in 2010.

Dan Jennings (4-1) picked up the winning decision after allowing the Barons’ fourth run of the game in the seventh inning. Matt Peterson loaded the bases with a single and two walks in the ninth inning before inducing a game-ending pop out. Barons reliever Henry Mabee (1-4) was tagged with the loss after being charged with the four runs in the eighth inning.

Birmingham built an early lead against Suns starter Andrew Miller. In the second inning John Shelby III hit a two-out, solo home run to left-centerfield to open a 1-0 score.

The Barons added two runs in the fourth inning with a two-out, two-run triple from Greg Paiml for a 3-0 Birmingham lead.

After recording only two hits against Barons starter Johnnie Lowe in the first six innings, the Suns found the scoreboard in the seventh against Birmingham reliever Kyle Bellamy. Jason Delaney singled before pinch-runner Greg Burns later scored on a Jeff Corsaletti groundout for a 3-1 score.

The Barons added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning against Jennings. Justin Greene led off with a triple and scored on an Eduardo Escobar single for a 4-1 lead.

Jacksonville finished off the comeback in the eighth inning against Henry Mabee. Brandon Tripp led off with a single, moved to second base on an errant pick-off throw and moved to third on a wild pitch. After a Vinny Rottino fly out and Lee Mitchell walk, Matt Dominguez drove in a Tripp with a single for a 4-2 score. Greg Buns next singled to load the bases and run Mabee from the game.

Reliever Greg Infante next struck out Chris Hatcher before giving up a Ryan Curry triple over the centerfielder, scoring all three runners for a 5-4 Suns lead.

The Suns return to the Baseball Grounds Thursday to open a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars. RH Jeff Allison will face Stars RH Michael Bowman. Tickets are available by calling the Suns box office at 358-2846 or by visiting jaxsuns.com.
