The Washington Capitals traded away their captain, Chris Clark, along with defenceman, Milan Jurcina, and got winger, Jason Chimera, from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange.

I am not a big fan of teams dealing away their captains but I guess if you’re going to do it, it’s better to get it over with before the new year. Of course, everyone is wondering if this means that Alexander Ovechkin will be the new leader of the team which, naturally, would lead to the Captain Ovechkin vs. Captain Crosby rivalry.

Clark had been with the Caps for five seasons but only amassed 60 goals and 63 assists in 240 games. Hopefully, he will be a better fit in Columbus…
