First official round of the playoffs done! Boom! Gone! I went three for four again this week. How will I do this week? Stay tuned. In the meantime, let’s recap this fabulous weekend.

Cowboys versus Vikings

Why were so many people actually thinking the Cowboys would dominate the Vikings? Or, for that matter, that the Saints had lost their mojo? I got both the NFC games correct, including the part where I predicted that “the Vikings defense will make Romo look like he’s still crying over his breakup with Jessica Simpson.” The Cowboys had shown their defense is good, but it isn’t great. It certainly couldn’t compete with the Vikings, who didn’t even let the Cowboys score a touchdown all day.

Jets versus Chargers

The AFC games were a trickier call (for me at least.) I’ll admit I went with my heart when it came to choosing the Chargers over the Jets. I saw the game as an even matchup, but gave the edge to the Chargers based on the fact that the Jets need to take a penalty lap and come back next year. I simply do not like Rex Ryan’s prediction that his team will take it all, or Mark Sanchez’s swagger. The kid has not been alive long enough to be so darn cocky. Worse than that, his cockiness doesn’t translate to great quarterback stats. There are a lot of analysts today saying that the Jets dominated the Chargers, but with a score and game as close as it was, there’s no truth to it. What’s even funnier is that the Jets odds of winning it all are now 7 to 1. (Those are excellent for a team with a new coach and rookie QB.)

Bottom line is that the Chargers let the Jets get the emotional edge. They played down to the Jets’ level, and then self-destructed with a few costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. The Jets didn’t win this game so much as the Chargers lost it. This fact will be key in my predictions for next week’s games.

Colts versus Ravens

This game was all Colts from beginning to end. I had actually envisioned a close game in the first half, but by the second quarter the Ravens fate was already sealed. I hope to see Harbaugh back next year for the playoffs, because he’s a coach with class and smarts.

Cardinals versus Saints

My heart is heavy today knowing that Kurt Warner is considering retirement. He played quite a game this weekend, but the Cardinals were just no match for the dominant Saints. This was the game that we found out Reggie Bush really wasn’t just Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend! He can actually run, too. Somehow, I had forgotten that. (I suspect I’m not alone on that note. Where has he been?)

As I predicted, it was a high scoring game with 59 total points. Will this momentum carry the Saints to another victory over the Vikings?
