Sports News:Belfour Named Blues Goalie Consultant
Article Summary:

Ed Belfour has signed on as a goaltending consultant for the St. Louis Blues and I think it’s a logical step and hopefully a good choice. Blues President, John Davidson, said: ”Ed is one of the winningest goaltenders in National Hockey League history and we’re thrilled to have him on our staff. His knowledge of the position will be invaluable for our goaltenders in Peoria and our young goalies in our organization.”

I agree with that but, of course, playing and coaching are two totally different things. Despite the fact that Eddie has won the Vezina Trophy twice, the Calder Trophy and the William M. Jennings Trophy and has played 18 season in the NHL (with some impressive stats – 2.50 GAA and 76 shut outs in 963 games), he might not know the first thing about motivating someone else to become a great goaltender. He’s definitely got the experience both in the regular season and post-season since he has appeared in three Stanley Cup Finals and won the Stanley Cup in 1999.
I’d love to hear what you think. Take the poll but feel free to add a comment!
