Pascal Leclaire got injured during practice yesterday and with backup goaltender Brian Elliot out with the flu, the Ottawa Senators had to call Mike Brodeur (who is a distant relative of the great netminder, Martin Brodeur) up from the AHL.

After his performance last night, the club might want to consider keeping him on the roster full time.

In just his second NHL appearance, Mike Brodeur made 32 saves to earn a shutout. That’s pretty impressive, especially since his he stopped 22 of 23 shots in his first game against the Minnesota Wild on December 19, 2009, leading the team to a 4-1 win.
